

My role in creating Spirit Overflow: Game direction, Game design, UI/UX design, Art Direction, Product Design, Project Management.
As our team's first online game, Spirit Overflow was originally launched on Steam in 2021, and that went great; we gained over 1,000 players who fed into our user behavior data by playing constantly and conducting interviews. We then made Kinix as an iteration based on what we learned.

Gameplay

Spirit Overflow is Splatoon + Tron. In Spirit Overflow, players connect their indoor bikes and compete in teams for territory. Every match is an intense 3v3 battle that calls for skills, strategies, and sweat.



In Spirit Overflow, we connect players' heartbeats, not just showing it in the display, but making it part of the core gameplay. The Bio Ultimate skills will be charged up when players reach the optimal heart rate (dynamically change according to the player's age and gender), and can be used to kill enemies when it's fully charged.
A Bio-Connected Gaming Experience



Reactive Resistance
The resistance on the bike trainer will change according to certain game events, for example, when the player enters enemy territory, the resistance will increase. We experimented with several gameplays built around this mechanism, such as "Outpost", a place where the team who occupies it will get a special territory effect, such as turning your territory into a "swamp" for enemies who enter and will get harder and harder to pedal as they go deeper.

Arcade Setup
We completed our Flagship model, an arcade setup ready to plug and play in any venue. The setups have been sold to multiple businesses, exhibitions, and events around the Tokyo area, and the game is well received by hundreds of offline players daily.

We believe gaming is for everyone, including active gaming. In partnership with Axereal kk., We developed a Spirit Overflow setup that can be played by people who use wheelchair and we are so proud of it.
